Making an Atlan weapon

As the story tells, the Atlan artifacts were a set of melee weapons -- swords, daggers, maces, and so on -- fashioned from raw pyreal motes.

These motes are collected from any type of Golem - be it Mud, Wood, Sandstone, Ice, Water, Limestone, Copper, Granite, Iron, Obsidian, Magma or even the new and ferocious Diamond Golems. If you kill enough of these, eventually you will find, amongst the loot, a small pyreal mote. Collect 16 of these, and you have enough to make you an atlan weapon.

In the beginning, it was thought that motes that came from higher level Golems, yielded a better and more powerful weapon. But resent studies have shown that, it makes little (if any) difference.

There are 3 grades of Atlan weapons. The "Peerless" is the best, "Superior" is the second best and the third best is "Fine". What determines the quality of the weapon are two things: First the skill of the alchemist and the skill of the person getting the Atlan weapon.

Two Pyreal Motes can be combined into a Pyreal Sliver, two of these can again be combined into a Pyreal Nugget, and again two Nuggets can be combined into a Pyreal Bar. All of this can be done by anyone, but once you have two Pyreal Bars, they need to be combined into a Pyreal Ingot. This can only be done by an alchemist that has a minimum of 250 in skill. Hand the two Pyreal Bars to an Alchemist you can trust and have him combine these. He should hand you back a Quality Pyreal Ingot. If he fails (and there is a 5% chance of failure, regardless of the skill-level), he will only procure a Pyreal Ingot - and this will not give the highest grade weapon as the end result.

Once you have your Ingot, bring it to Crater Lake, at the top of the tower in Crater Village. There you will find Silencia and her pet Magma Golem. You will have to buy a Weapons Glyph, corresponding to the type of weapon you want to create at the end. Glyph's cost 9,500 pyreals, and is sold by Silencia in the form of the following weapon-types: Axe, Claw (unarmed combat), Dagger, Mace, Spear, Staff and Sword.

Now you need a good creature buffer, to buff you weapons-skill to the maximum possible. The goal when stamping the ingot with the weapon glyph, and when turning the stamped ingot into the magma Golem is that one should strive to have a weapon skill greater than 250, as this will increase the chance that a higher quality weapon will be made. A high quality ingot and a high weapon skill will insure the greatest chance of success in making the highest quality weapon. If a lower quality ingot is used and\or the weapon skill of the person stamping is less than 250, then the chance of getting a lower quality weapon increases proportionately.

Once you have stamped you Ingot, you will hand your Infused Ingot to Silencia's pet Magma Golem, and he will in turn give you your weapon back. If you have been successful, skilled enough and a bit lucky, you will now have a Peerless Atlan weapon, ready to insert one of the four minor, or one of the four major stones.
