First Summary: "The Brell Clan Aerlinthe Report (Part One)"

Written by Brell October 22nd, 2000:

Greetings all ye brave men and women,

I cannot tell you how proud you all made me yesterday. We had a blast, and I am safe to say, that whatever T-Shirts was brought back, was due to those who gave their life to make this happen.

We achieved MUCH more than what we set out to do. And to tell you the truth, we sucessfully fought some of the most fearsome creatures of Aerlinthe. We came, we saw, we concered. When our group was at full strength, we stood our ground, and we took it all. Coral Golems, Vapor Golems, Silver Tuskers, Hellfires, White Whasps, Altered and Augmented Drudges, Relic Bones a few of those nasty Level 100+ Rats!

As Kamikazee pointed out, we were doing FINE untill Canador had to leave with only 8 health-points left to his name. At this point we were standing at the foot of Tenkarrdun, right in the center of Raina's Harbor (where the lava flows into the harbor, and makes a spectacular mist of vapor - in which a few of the awesome yet invisible Vapor Golems can be found (they are visible on radar however, and you feel the damage they do for sure).

Then others had to leave due to r/l commitments, and as our group wore thin in numbers, it became increasingly difficult to fight the critters there. MAN those Silver Tuskers has an amazingly high Magic Defence. We made it all the way around Raina's Harbor, but at that time we were down to 6 or 7 people. And allthough only two had died so far - of which one was able to recover by himself (the rest had recalled), we were indeed wearing a bit thin. At this time, we engaged a group of Silver Tuskers, and at the end of the battle, which was fought furousiously - 2 more had to pay the Lifestone in Ayan a quick visit. And the group, that started out as 20 was now reduced to 4 or 5 people. One more had to leave and recalled, and only 4 of us were left.

I knew from experience, that the West side of the harbor entrance, was even worse than the East side, in that it not only had a lot of Coral Golems, it also had a few groups of Silver Tuskers scattered all over the place - so it didn't make a whole lot of sense to try and fight our way through. So we made a run for it. As we ran - we suddenly got the message "Your fellow Nina has died", and a knife cut through our hearts once again, as we thought about yet another fellow, standing at the Lifestone, ripped from her, all her most priced possesions. We did not have time to ponder this long, because running through dozens of Coral Golems, Silver Tuskers, Diamond Golems and eventually Relic Bones, and a few nasty rats, quickly got our minds back to what we were doing. Comming around the west side of the harbor entrance, we passed the T-Shirt Vendors tent, but had to proceed a little longer along the shore, to loose whatever was following us, and were left with only one Augmented Drudged, that still prooved very difficult to handle, simply because I was completely debuffed, and my Focus and Self buffs had expired on top of that!

Eventually we lost the last persuer as well, spend 15 minutes waiting for debuffs to run out, before heading for the T-Shirt Vendor, where we bought a good supply of T-Shirts, enough to go around to all those who started out towards Aerlinthe.

Home safe and sound, we enjoyed a good cup of redwine, spend some time talking about what we had experienced, before retirering for the night!

We had a blast, and we did AMAZINGLY well. As long as our numbers were up, and Canador was there to land some heavy debuffs on the critters we fought - well - we kan make it all the way - plain and simple! Aerlinthe is NOT an impossibility for a group like ours and would be even stronger if joined by people like Neilla, Al-Qadim, Darkeagle, Falcor, Mach, Bubb'ah and others. We simply need to gather strength now - replenish and replace what was lost.

It is with pride I call myself part of such an amazing group of people. Even those unable to come, were there, in their hearts and minds as we fought our way around the Harbor area. Someone (unable to go himself) slipped me a C-Note for the portal, and I thank you for thinking about this!

Next time we go - we will be a LOT wiser and more capable, in that we this time learned a few valuable lessons, that will help us next time we head out there. Vapor Golems are hurt by frost damage, Corals by Bludgoening, etc... I will try to outline these lessone in an upcomming email. But I suggest that we make one more trip out there putting those lessons learned into practice, before we head out to find the Sluice Gate Bar found in the Tenkarrdum Foundry - which will actually be the first step in completing the Aerlithe quest.

See ya all out there, Brell
